General information Jan Meininghaus:
As a child of the 70s and teenager of the 80s, Jan spent a lot of time reading comics, riding BMX, and playing arcade games. He loved watching shows like “A Duke Seldom Comes Alone” and action-packed movies like “Cannonball Run” and “Star Wars.” Jan Meininghaus began his career at the age of 16 creating rock posters or designs for albums for bands in his neighborhood. His underground roots always shine through in his work, so Jan's illustrations are rough, raw and angular. Its female protagonists are more Switchblade Sisters than innocent Cuties. Of course, Jan always strives to bring the hard-hitting energy of his favorite films, from car chases to rock'n'roll attitudes, into his work. Jan works with various techniques, from classic manual drawing to digital drawing. But he always makes sure to integrate his experience of filmmaking, photo shoots or advertising layouts, so that his work always remains dynamic, unique and lively. For Jan Meininghaus, it is never a job, but an enrichment of life.
